Conducting clinical research studies is at the core of our mission as an academic medical center. Clinical trials combine outstanding clinical care of patients with hypothesis driven clinical investigation. They bring laboratory breakthroughs to the bedside and provide patients with opportunities to receive state-of-the-art therapies. The Office of Clinical Research was created to further the research and health care mission of the Medical Center by developing and supporting specific infrastructure components related to clinical research especially in the contect of the newly funded CTSA. By providing high level guidance in the process of clinical trials conduct, the office seeks to enhance the excellence, scope, and efficiency of clinical trial efforts by facilitating and integrating the clinical trial activities already in place and by fostering clinical trial activities in areas where they are not yet fully operational. A major objective of the office is to improve the training and knowledge of health professionals concerning the special regulatory and compliance issues involved with this type of research. The office is committed to working in collaboration with administrators from all departments to establish interdepartmental trust, collaborations, joint efforts, and alliances with other units in the University.
